DOVER, Del.— Montrell Teague observed his 26th birthday driving Gallic Beach to victory in the first of two co-feature races while Fancy Colt won his second straight in the other half at Dover Downs on a sloppy track on Monday, Jan. 2 at Dover Downs.
In a driving finish Gallic Beach held off a fast closing Bobby The Greek (Tony Morgan) to score a 1:52.1 triumph in the first Male pace. Skyway Gladiator (Mike Rossi) finished third. Joh Wilkerson trains the five-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-Wester Gallie, who won for the 11th time in his career.
Tony Morgan rang up his third winner guiding Fancy Colt to his second win in-a-row. Tim Crissman conditions the Always A Virgin-Fanciful Hanover gelding for Crissman Inc. He recorded his 22d career trip to the winners circle. Acting Out (Jonathan Roberts) was next with Singing Saint (Russ Foster) third.
Kim Vincent drove the longshot on the card 41-1 Odessa, a 1:57.1 passing lane victor in a $6,000 trot for owner Providence West Inc.
Tony Morgan led all drivers with three wins, Allan Davis and Vic Kirby had two, to take over first place among driving wins. Trainers Eli Scott, Shane Long and Tim Crissman plus owners Crissman Inc. and Tim Mumford had two winners apiece.
