Rivers took command at the opening quarter mile and never had to look back in capturing the $51,350 trot final of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund eligible series at Dover Downs Tuesday.

Restricted to three-year-old colt and gelding trotters, the fifth race feature saw Rivers and driver Corey Callahan pass by Canoe Trip (Allan Davis) at the opening quarter mile in :29.4.

Rivers then held the field at bay to the half in 1:00, the three-quarters in 1:29.4 and then kicked in a :28.4 last quarter to win by two and one-half lengths in 1:58.2.

Canoe Trip was second with Wolfpack Russ (Tim Tetrick) third.

A gelded son of Anders Bluestone, it was the second straight win as Rivers is undefeated in two starts in 2020. He is trained by Nick Callahan and co-owned by Stuart Chambers Racing, LLC, BCJM, Inc. and Divine Horse. He paid just $2.20 to win.

Angel Nation rated off the pace and stormed home to win the $32,500 Open/Preferred Handicap Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night.

At the start of the race 4, the trotters left in unison and battled to the quarter. As the dust cleared, JL Cruze parked Swan In Motion to the quarter in :27.

Swan In Motion continued on the lead and led the field to the half in :56.1. Northern Express and driver Russell Foster sprinted down the backstretch and put away Swan In Motion at the three quarters in 1:25.

Angel Nation and driver Andy Miller were in a perfect 2nd over position and cleared Swan In Motion for the lead. However, danger was in the form of a late surge by Angel Nation.

In the deep stretch, Angel Nation drew clear of the field and won by a half-length. He won in 1:54 and paid $23.80 for the win.

Nation (Archangel) is owned by the Andy Miller Stable, Inc of NJ and Ted A. Macdonnell of Ontario, Canada. Julie Miller trains.

Northern Express battled gamely and finished 2nd for trainer Arty Foster Jr. Russell Foster drove. Judge Bob finished 3rd for trainer Megan Roberts. Montrell Teague drove. The 4/5 betting favorite JL Cruze finished 5th.
