Smart winning performances at Manch

Lakeview Panam and Hillside Aurelious, who both hold entries in the Oakwood Stud three year old grass harness racing championship here in Manch in two weeks time put themselves firmly in the picture for the classic with two smart winning performances at Manch this afternoon .

Lakeview Panam (Cams Security / Meadowbranch Panam) who won on its debut here a few weeks back looks a smart prospect for owner James Hurley. Donal Murphy sent this filly to the front at the start and ran out an easy three length winner .

"We will run her in the three year old race and put her on grass after that "explained Hurley.

Hillside Aurelious (Cams Security / Meadowbranch Katie) broke his maiden tag with consumate ease . A half brother to last weeks Grand Prix winner Hillside Spartacus looks another with a bright future .Patrick Hill took advantage of a number one draw to hold off the late challenge of Swift Sunshine."He should improve no end from this only his second outing and we take a chance in the Oakwood Three year old race "commented Hill post racing.

It was a red letter day for John O Mahony who drove his first winner under rules on Moorside Charlie in the opener . Meadowbranch Matt seemed to have done enough but O Mahony produced the winner in the final 100 yards to win by three lengths .

Mike Kelleher drove a brace on the day .Rhyds Destiny won a thrilling top grade pace .Rhyds Heartbeat led for most of the journey and looke to have the measure of his rivals with two furlongs to go .But the field swamped the one in front with Rhyds Destiny pulling out a little bit extra to win a length from IB Mohican with Ringo Star a neck back in third.

Adagio De Cebe completed the double for Macroom based Kelleher in the LE Trot . Valiant Forgion went off stride at the opening corner allowing Adagio De Cebe to control matters in front. Rocky Atout closed in on the winner but could not peg him back and tis was his third win on the bounce .

Keystone Wingman has been running well all season and finally got his nose in front in the grade C/D &E .Seamus Quill had a gear battle but Llywns Allstar and was three lengths to the good at the finish .

Armoured Bear gave John Boyle another winner in the Grade de E & F Pace. Boyles stock have been in top form all year and the veteran driver was taking no prisoners in a bloodless victory .

Ringo Kid and Shelley Brickley notched up another win in the saddle.

Brickley eased this son of Timon Del Sol to the frnt with two furlongs to go and was not for catching.

All roads lead to Portmarnock Raceway this coming weekend for the Vincent Delaney Memorial Festival and the following week is the Red John Memorial Weekend are set to go ahead here at The Cornfield Oval in Manch with record prize money at both meetings.
