Rains delay Grand National Final in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Argentina – The biggest day of harness racing in Argentina this year was rained-out on Sunday, November 13. The 25th annual Grand Prix National weekend of racing was scheduled to be held at the Hippodrome de Navarro headlined by the eliminations and final of the Argentine Trot.

Saturday's program, including the elimination divisions of the Argentine Trot, were able to be raced, but rains forced the cancellation of Sunday's race program and the final. The Grand Prix National finals program has been rescheduled for Sunday, December 18.

The Hippodrome de Navarro is a 1,000-meter track (nearly 5/8th mile) and racing in Argentina features both pacers and trotters. The average speed per race varies from 1:59 to 1:55 for one mile.

The total purses for the Agentine Trot eliminations and final is 25,000 pesos or $1,650 US.
