New Jersey Sire Stakes 2YO champions by Cattlewash

The Somebeachsomewhere millionaire Cattlewash (1:46.8), whose frozen semen is available from Yirribee Pacing Stud, Wagga (NSW), made a clean sweep of the New Jersey Sire Stakes Finals run at The Meadowlands this month.

McCusker, a two-year-old colt, came from seventh early to snatch a last stride win over Manolete (also by Cattlewash) in 1:51.6 in the $240,000 colts and geldings’ final on August 22. It was his first success.

Earlier in the month Reckless Abandon, a two-year-old filly by Cattlewash, blew her rivals away in a new lifetime mark of 1:51.6 in the $192,000 fillies’ decider. It was her third win on end and lifted her stake tally to $127,250.

Cattlewash trifectaed both finals.

Other recent fast winners by Cattlewash include Power Code (1:51.4), Manolete (1:51.8) and Eightsevensix (1:54.4).

Cattlewash is now the second leading first season sire in North America with progeny earnings of $644,887 as at August 26. From his first crop of 38 foals, 27 have raced and 18 have emerged successful with seven in 1:55 and 15 in 2:00.

Meanwhile, Cattlewash’s world champion studmate Warrawee Needy continues to churn out winners in both hemisphere.

His haul was headed up by the talented Our Goat, winner of the $30,600 NSW Bred 3YO Final in 1:53.1 at Menangle, and the winners of both heats of the NSW Breeders Challenge Blue for three-year-old fillies at Menangle in My Bula Bus (1:53.1) and Soap Opera ((1:53.2).

The two-year-old Half Holiday (1:55.5), the three-year-olds Vite Monet (1:55.2) and She’s Believable (1:57), Saveeon (1:56.2) and Uncle Shank, who scored in 1:50.8 at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Canada have been other winners sired by Warrawee Needy in August.

Warrawee Needy has been represented by 31 individual winners in Australia this season including four two-year-old winners and 10 three-year-old winners.
