Final Deadline smashes track record in Redcliffe Gold Cup
In form pacer Final Deadline (Bettors Delight) continued his present form with an outstanding staying performance to take out this years Coast2coast Grounds and Gardens Group 2 $106,000 Redcliffe Gold Cup on Saturday night.

Following up from his tough harness racing win in the Flashing Red at Albion Park last week Final Deadline was installed favourite ahead of Path To Greatness.
The four year old who has always shown great promise was off 10 metres but he commenced cleanly and driver Adam Sanderson speared him around the field to quickly take up the running.
FINAL DEADLINE 20 JUN REPLAY
And it all fell to place for Final Deadline as Path To Greatness had to settle for racing outside the leader. Fate Awaits went around the field with a lap left to travel but he was making hard work of it.
Running his last quarters in 27.6 and 27.5 seconds Final Deadline gave nothing else a chance as he cleared away to score the easiest of wins by over eight metres. Tyson, Hector and Tims A Trooper (who come off 20 Metres) all had inside runs and they filled up the placings.
Final Deadline’s mile rate of 1.55.8 was a new track record for the 2613 metre trip and easily broke the existing record of 1.58.2 set by Free Thinker in June 2025.
Final Deadline has been withdrawn from the Inter Dominion series as trainer Shannon Price will concentrate on the $300,000 Group 1 Rising Sun to be held at Albion Park on 4 July.
Final Deadline is the only progeny from the Christian Cullen mare Glory Girl.
Outside the winner there were few excuses for the beaten brigade although Tims A Trooper ran his usual honest race from 20 metres to run home in fourth.
