Dunn has strong form runners

Six of the team of eight Robert and Jenna Dunn will have for Uncut Gems night at Addington tonight, take winning form into their races.

The night starts for the stable in Race One with Bettors Go Vinnie, (Vincent) who draws the inside of the second row and follows out Captain Cool.

“I like him and I think he’s paying overs (on the TAB). He’s another horse that has kept on stepping up. Captain Cool is going super and does leave the gate quick. I think he’s a wee bit of a chance in that race,” Robert said.

In Race Four the Dunn runner is Johnny Trotter (What The Hill). He’s won two of his last four starts but as an R44 horse he faces some tough R56 to R60 horses.

“We had him up in Auckland last year learning his trade and he got a very fine hairline fracture of the pastern. We felt the beach training would be better for him so we sent him down south and he’s doing a great job for us. When you look at this field it’s a big step up and a bit of a learning curve for him.”

Ashes Of Midnight (Captain Crunch) takes her place in the $60,000 G2 Studholme Bloodstock Bionic Chance Bracelet. She was good on debut finishing third, but draws the outside of the second row.

“We’re very pleased with her but this is going to be tricky for her. We’ll be trying to give her a nice run and getting home as strong as we can.”

Diamond Racing has two runners in the $50,000 Listed Commodore Hotel ‘Uncut Gems’ Aged Classic – One Over Da Line (Majestic Son) and Rock Lobster (Majestic Son).

One Over Da Line has recorded five of his eight wins on the course and four at this distance (2600 metres).

Five of his wins have been since the start of the year and as an R69 horse he gets into the race nicely running off a 10 metre handicap.

“He showed a lot of promise as a young horse but he kept on going sore all the time so we had to give him a bit of time off. He’s only had thirty two starts and this season he’s been a revelation. He’s never stopped improving and never stopped winning races. It’s a real surprise and a pleasant one.”

Rock Lobster also has very good course and distance stats and four of her eight wins have been on the track.

“She’s another surprise. She could always trot, but she was very temperamental when she was young and more that once we thought she may not make it. She’s just turned the corner and if she’s held up for one run she’s got a lethal sprint.”

The inform pair of Sacetas (Bettor’s Delight) and Bruntwood Brigade (Art Major) face tough opposition in the $60,000 Listed Betavet ‘Uncut Gems’ Geldings and Entire’s Classic.

Sacetas has come a long way this season, winning four of his six starts.

“Tom Bagrie had him and he was a rodeo horse for a long time. Tom sent him to Johnny to see how he would go on the beach, training in a straight line. He too has been a revelation. He’s a horse with upside and appears to have plenty of stamina and high speed as well.”

Bruntwood Brigade has won eight of his ten starts this season and has been one of the finds of late summer/autumn racing.

He gets a nice draw at four.

“It’s a big step up for him but every time I say that he keeps on producing. His second campaign in Auckland he didn’t carry a lot of condition, and we had to nurse him through. Johnny had a drive on him at Cambridge and said he’d be better coming south and better left handed. Since then, he’s been fantastic really.”
