Down Under Winners from North America – 26th March

The Always B Miki gelding Miki Shan NZ put up the co-fastest mile by an ANZAC bred pacer this year of 1:49.8 when he led most of the way in a $12,000 race at The Meadows on Friday (March 20). It was his first success for the season.

Lip Reader, a 12 year-old son of Sportswriter, overcame plenty of traffic to capture the $15,500 Open in 1:54.6 at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday (March 21). The win pushed the gelding’s lifetime earnings beyond the $US350,000 mark.

The NZ bred mare Louie’s Girl stretched her unbeaten streak on American soil to seven when she outfinished her rivals in the $25,000 distaff feature in 1:54.4 at Pocono Downs on Monday (March 16).

ANZAC bred pacers won seven of the 10 races at Yonkers Raceway on Monday night namely Captain Moore, Mossdale Ben, Curly James, Sherlock, Hemsworth, Jett Star and American Dealer.

Australian and New Zealand bred mares will be out in force in the first four $50,000 divisions of the Ursula McIntyre Pacing Series at Yonkers Raceway on Friday night (March 27).

The defending champion Aardie B Miki NZ, who has won three of her six starts this year, will start from the No. 4 gate in the final split. She will face off to six rivals including Coastal Babe NZ and the Aussie breds Doug’s Babe and Elusive.

Turn The Page NZ, a winner of three out of four this season, will start from the pole in the third split. She will be opposed to Millwood Bliss NZ.

In the opening division three Kiwi bred mares in Acushla Machree, Louie’s Girl and Coachellabound will lock horns, while two Aussie breds in Silk Cloud and Tick A Loch will square off against Always B Stunning in the second division.
