Dewey Arnold cruises to victory

Dewey Arnold (Deweycheatumnhowe) captures the featured $8,500 Open Trot on Saturday (May 3).

Dewey Arnold ($4.00) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :28.0.  He used a :29.4 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.4.  Woodside Gabe (Leon Bailey) came first-up to challenge heading to the far turn.  The two battled all around the final turn.  Dewey Arnold (Ron Harp) led to three-quarters in 1:26.3.

As they reached the stretch Dewey Arnold scooted away to win easily in 1:55.1.  Topville Swift Dan (Jimmy Whittemore) finished second.  Woodside Gabe had to settle for third.

Dewey Arnold is a 7-year-old gelding by Deweycheatumnhowe.  He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst.  It was his third win of the season.  He now has 38 career victories.
