Daughter of WA Oaks winner looks a good buy
The catalogue for the 2026 Australian Pacing Gold Perth Yearling Sale at Magic Millions on Sunday, March 1 has youngsters out of only three WA Oaks winners – Libertybelle Midfrew, Sports Package and Benesari Lane.

Benesari Lane, the winner of the 2021 edition, was raced and trained by Byford professional horseman Ron Huston and his partner Vicki Lea and totted up five wins with six placings for $143,934 in stakes and took a mile record of 1:57.5. She is represented by Lot 378, one of the second crop of the USA 3YO Colt of the Year now exciting, young sire Bettor’s Wish and is the only filly by the Bettor’s Delight horse at the sale.
Bettor’s Wish was the leading first season sire in Australia last year with nine individual winners headed up by the sensational filly Wishing Belle, the winner of eight of her nine starts – four at Group/Listed level – and the WA Sales Classic winner Ma Petite Dame.
The APG sale entry is only the second foal of Benesari Lane. Her first issue, Benoa Boy, a two-year-old colt by Always B Miki, qualified at the Pinjarra trials recently.
She belongs to a noted family founded by the late Dr Ed Dewar that traces back to the Holmes Hanover matron Tempting Franco NZ. It includes the WA Sires Stakes champions Typhoon Whitby and Kimba Bay, Tempestuous Whitby, the $100,000 winners Bronzwhaler Whitby, Scot Bay and Del Bocavista Bay and Baby She Rocks (WA Sales Classic 3YO).
“She’s a lovely filly, very correct and a pleasure to work with,” Byford preparer Sarah Suvaljko said.
