Queensland’s latest star Dashing (Art Major) continued his winning way with yet another impressive all the way win in the Home Straight Bistro Open Pace at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

Pre race Dashing was backed into a firm favourite following the scratching of what would have been his main opponent Speak The Truth.

And as expected driver Nathan Dawson had no hesitation in going for the early lead from where he set his own terms. Perennial local favourite Tims A Trooper was caught outside the leader with Hector behind the leader and District Attorney slotting into the one out and one back trail.

DASHING 25 APR REPLAY

Dashing ran his first quarter in a leisurely 30.1 seconds and was clearly in front. With a lap left to travel Tims A Trooper edged a little closer but in the third quarter Dawson released the breaks and running that section in 26.5 seconds had his rivals off the bit. Dawson kept Dashing’s mind on the job on straightening even when Hector looked to temporarily threaten.

However Dashing kept going was able to win by over two metres from Hector who ran his best race for some time with Jimartee in third.

Raced by her breeder Dianne Kelly from Wagga, Dashing is trained by local Shawn Grimsey who’s done wonders with the five year old since he joined his stables in January this year. The gelding has won five of his seven appearances at the Creek including the last four on end.

He’s been in a number of stables starting his career with Cameron Ross, then Belinda and Luke McCarthy before going to Bruce Harpley who was able to win the Leeton and Junee Pacing Cups with the gelding.

Dashing was destined to win races as his dam Frith was a million dollar mare who took out numerous classics in her career and renowned for her never say die attitude.

Dashing has now won $204,644 in his career and that was his 15th win in 41 starts to date. He’s thriving at present and is sure to keep making presence in top free for all class.
