Dashing in fine form with another success at Albion Park

Dashing in fine form

By Harness Analyst ·

Well bred gelding Dashing (Art Major) showed his harness racing rivals another clean set of heels when he outsprinted his rivals to take out the Lou Cini Memorial Free For All at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

Dashing has been a fairly recent addition to the Shawn Grimsey stable having previously being prepared by Riverina trainer Bruce Harpley and also at times with Luke McCarthy.

Dashing had caught the eye at his previous start when he was forced to race outside the leader yet show great determination to still win.

DASHING 21 MAR REPLAY

Last night he was drawn the pole and was installed a hot favourite.  Driver Nathan Dawson had no hesitation holding the early lead.

The former New Zealander Whos Delight who had been unbeaten in his previous two starts went around the field to race outside the leader. Attachment who was drawn wide was eased back by Pete McMullen to the rear of the field.

Dawson kept a brisk pace and in running a third quarter in 26.5 seconds Dashing had his rivals off the bit and struggling. Attachment who was still a clear last in the back straight aimed for inside runs and he was able to gain a run with the sprint lane. But Dashing had already established a clear lead and he went to the line full of running beating Attachment by just under seven metres with Mossdale Terry a further two metres away in third.

Dashing ran the mile in 1.52.8 and the way he is going should make it right through to the open classes where at just five years of age has the ability to make his presence at the Creek.

Dashing is out of the wonder mare Frith who in her day won $1.18 million by way of 39 wins and 14 placings from 63 starts. Sadly Dashing’s elder half sister Peaceful passed away. But Frith has a two year old filly by Sweet Lou and a yearling filly by Confederate.

Dashing is raced by prominent breeder Di Kelly from Wagga who with her husband Bernie has achieved much success over the years. Di paid special tribute to former trainer Bruce Harpley who put in so much work with the gelding before he went to Shawn Grimsey’s stables. Dashing is sure to provide many more highlights if he continues his current form.
