We have 218 to feed today, some in very poor condition, and a few who need extra loving care like two of our seniors, Your Mother's Boy, 28 and Sea It Again, 29. Every day the two come to the barn for an extra meal so they are not bullied by the others who are already plump. There is no need for a lead rope; those two know the routine. They stand at the gate right about noon. When we unhitch it, they plod into the path, turn right and plug along until they know to make a left turn into the barn to the shedrow where their feed tubs hang, full.

 

Each one could do it with their eyes closed. Two hours later they nicker to let us know they are done and into reverse they go, no lead rope just following our steps back to their pasture. It's heartwarming to be able to help these two thanks to our supporters.
