Classic Connection, who is standing at Wai Eyre Farm in New Zealand under the banner of Yabby Dam Farms this season, is a close relative of Diabolic Hill (by Muscle Hill), the winner of last weekend’s Grade 1 $664,500 Breeders Crown for the three-year-old boys in a lifetime best 1:50.8.

Classic Connection, a son of the legendary French sire Love You, is out of the USA and Canadian 2YO Trotting Filly of the Year Crys Dream Tr 1:53.4 ($1.2 million), while Diabolic Hill (by Muscle Hill) is from Crysti Dream, a half-sister to Crys Dream.

A $300,000 buy at the 2024 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, Diabolic Hill has won eight races with nine placings from 21 starts for $1,081,167 in stakes. He has banked $574,531 this season.

As a two-year-old Diabolic Hill won five of his 10 starts including the Grade 1 $421,000 Valley Victory at The Meadowlands in 1:53.6.

Classic Connection, a German Breeders Crown champion, has made a spectacular start as a sire. In his first season he left 26 foals, and of these he has had 15 to the races to date for 10 winners.

Of 11 two-year-old starters this season, five are winners and three were placed, and of the 28 foals he left from that crop, 19 have been named including Jilliby Connection (ex Norquay by Majestic Son), winner of the VSTA Col and Dot Redwood 2YO on Redwood Day.

All told, Classic Connection has sired 15 individual winners from 26 starters.

From his first crop he sired a top filly in Cee Cee In Paris (ex Glenferrie Conquer by Muscles Yankee), who has won five races including the NSW Foundation 2YO Trot and the Trot NSW 3YO Final, and Afternoon Breeze (ex Onestar LB by Cantab Hall), a Listed two-year-old winner in Victoria.

Insulator (ex The Cooler by Majestic Son), a Vicbred 2YO heat winner and The Redwood placegetter, the four-time winner Itz Classic Gold (ex Honey Please by Yankee Spider), I’m Connected, a dual Addington winner and a placegetter in the NZ Hambletonian, and the metropolitan winners Remembrance Time (Melton) and Pozzi Tonozzi (Albion Park) have been other Australian bred winners by Classic Connection from his first crops.

Classic Connection is standing for a fee of $3,500 plus GST in Australia and at the reduced fee of $3,200 plus GST in NZ.
