Chase Auckland has Auckland on the radar

Unbeaten Auckland Reactor gelding Chase Auckland had a quiet run at the Ashburton workouts today winning narrowly but well for co-trainer and driver Natalie Rasmussen.

Fresh from winning his fifth race in a row in the NRM Sires Stakes final three weeks ago, Chase Auckland was taken to the front a lap out in his trial and was never extended beating the Robbie Holmes trained Kiwi On Show by a neck at the line.

The time for the 2400m mobile was 3-06, with the closing 800m in a sedate 60 seconds. Spankem who is also Auckland bound ran home well for third.

Later in the day All Stars runner Vincent ran a last half in better than 55 seconds as he too showed he was ready for an Auckland campaign that culminates with a start in the Auckland Cup. Vincent will have his first run up north in the $50,000 Franklin Cup on December 15th, a race that will also include stablemate Heaven Rocks.

Chase Auckland will look to keep his unbeaten run intact in the $50,000 Alabar Classic for 3yos at the same meeting.
