Camels, Ostriches and Cake, Oh MY!

By Harnesslink ·

Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment was featured in a recent episode of TLC's Cake Boss. The "Cake Boss" is master baker Buddy Valastro, owner of Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey. The episode was filmed the night of the fifth annual Ostrich Derby and Cameltonian in June of 2016.

Valastro commemorated the event by making a huge confection depicting an ostrich riding a camel. The cake was unveiled after the Cameltonian in the winner's circle. Free pieces were then doled out to a crowd of over 10,000.

The full episode which originally aired on November 18, 2017 can be viewed right here.

This was the second cake the "Cake Boss" designed for the Meadowlands Racetrack. In 2011 Valastro and Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop created a Hambletonian cake that celebrated the track's 30th year of hosting the sport's richest and most prestigious harness race.
