But Why records fourth Open Trot victory of the season

But Why (Crazy Wow) recorded his fourth Open Trot harness racing victory of the season on Monday afternoon when the defending Horse of the Year at Saratoga Casino Hotel went coast-to-coast.

Scott Mongeon trains the five year old But Why who has followed up his award-winning campaign with a strong 2026 season in which he has hit the board in all eight starts including his four Open scores.

In Monday’s installment of the $18,000 Open, reinsman Jimmy Devaux moved But Why out to the early lead where he cruised unopposed through first-half fractions of 27.4 and 57.2.

The even-money favorite looked strong every step of the way and opened up a bit past three quarters in 1:26.1 before putting the finishing touches on his fourth seasonal score stopping the timer in 1:55.1.

BUT WHY REPLAY

Last week’s Open winner Ordained (Billy Dobson) closed well to be second while Platinum As (Aaron Byron) came on to finish third. But Why is owned by Steve and Laura Stewart.
