Brassy Hanover makes noise in Open

By Harnesslink ·

Brassy Hanover slid out late and turned on the jets to score his first win of the harness racing season in the Hoosier Park Open Pace on Friday.
He left in the middle of a trio of leavers from post six, putting him two-wide into the first turn. Sam Widger hurried the gelding to the front, and they acquired it going by the quarter mile pole in :27. The favoured Tellmeaboutit (Trace Tetrick) promptly moved up to take the lead on the backstretch, and he paced middle panels of :54.2 and 1:23.3.
Evenwood Sonofagun (Ricky Macomber Jr.) pressured the leader first-over through the third quarter, leaving Brassy Hanover locked in the pocket, but the former surrendered midway down the stretch. Brassy Hanover then swung into the two-path and out-kicked Tellmeabout by a half-length to earn a trip to the winner’s circle in 1:50.1.
Tellmeaboutit hung onto place over a closing Saying Grace N (John De Long). The winner returned $6.30.
