Last season, harness racing junior driver Brad Williamson had one of those seasons where nothing went right.
The harder he tried, the worse he went and the head was down a bit when you talked to him.
What a difference a few months makes as Brad is completely dominating the junior driving ranks with displays of skill that make him a driver to follow.
Tonight Brad had the drive on Monty Python at Addington Raceway and even though he had drawn barrier nine, the public had made him the favourite.
Wide early, Brad settled into the trail behind Clean Break and Robbie Holmes after an early burn and once the passing lane became available it was all over as Monty Python bolted in over Arran Chief and Sonoflindenny.
Brad was happy with a job well done.
" I thought that Monty on the dropback was a class above them and barring accidents he would be very hard to beat."
"I really wanted to lead but was more than happy to take a trail behind Robbie on Clean Break as I knew he would get me to the passing lane," Brad said.
The win was number 24 for the season for Brad which leaves him 11 clear of Craig Ferguson in second place on the junior drivers list.
Brad is confident the good run will continue.
" Dad has got a good team of horses that will win there way through the grades so I think the good run can continue.."`
"I am aiming at 60 wins for the season so I am on track at this stage of the season."
The next race on the card for Monty Python is the big trot at Omakau and Brad is pretty confident about his chances.
"Monty Python is a lot better than people think and I am not worried about the rise in class"
" I think that Monty Python can upset them at Omakau and with the preferential draw he comes right into the picture," Brad said
The way Brad has been consistently winning races this season, it may pay to follow his advice for races in the new year.
