Brad bags Winton double

Tabasco (Bettor’s Delight) and Aint No Angel (Raging Bull) provided Oamaru horseman Brad Williamson with a race to race double at Winton today.

Tabasco came with a powerful run down the outside of the track to nab Foxfire Easton by a nose.

“He just peaked on his run at his last start. Today he was right on his game and he flew home,” Williamson said.

The win was the five year old’s eighth and third this season.

“He improved so much last year from a three year old to a four year old. This year although he’s taken a run or two, I think he’s improved again. I think he’s coming of age.”

In the next race Aint No Angel led most of the way and held on to win by a neck from Jayar Mac.

“She’s a different horse when she’s out and rolling and racing on the pace. When she gets back in the field she just doesn’t seem to run on. That’s been the case for her whole career.”

The race was the second Winter Rewards race for pacers and carried a stake of $25,000.

“It’s great for Southland and awesome to be racing for this sort of money in the winter when we never used to race.”
