Bling It On Colt (Lot 29) Set to Turn Heads at Tasmanian Yearling Sale
Lot 29 presents as a striking colt by Bling It On — Australia’s 2YO and 3YO Colt of his Year, a genuine Group 1 performer and now a proven Group 1 sire of fast, tough, early-running stock. His progeny are known for their attitude, speed, and ability to keep improving with age, and this colt fits that mould beautifully.
Bred and prepared by Kareena Blackwell of Brighton, this youngster marks her first venture into the sales ring, and she has produced a colt that will catch plenty of eyes at Quercus Park.
His dam, Playing Arkabella, was a high-class juvenile, winning both the Evicus Final and Tasmanian Sweepstakes at two, before adding the Bandbox Final and a placing in the Tasmanian Oaks at three. This colt is her second foal; her first, a three-year-old by Fear The Dragon, is back in full work after an injury-affected two-year-old season.
“This boy was a pleasure to do anything with — a quick learner who has just blossomed since I started preparing him,” Blackwell said. “He looks magnificent. He looks like a two-year-old, not the 14-month-old he is.”
Playing Arkabella descends from the famed Ark Maree maternal line — the 2008 Australian Broodmare of the Year, dam of 10 winners including Atomic Ark (36 wins) and Arkamigo, the Group 1 Queensland Derby winner. It is also the family of current open-class performers Dangerous and Dee Roe, the latter finishing runner-up to champion Leap To Fame in this year’s Ballarat Cup, beating home the likes of Kingman, Bulletproof Boy and Catch A Wave.
Tasracing and Nutrien will conduct a full parade of yearlings at 12 noon on Saturday, with the sale commencing at 2pm at Quercus Park, Carrick.
