Big Duke powers home to win

By Harnesslink ·

Duke of Bourbon (Face Time Bourbon) cost $240,000 and although he had one win under his belt has cost punters a bit of money to prior to winning tonight’s Addington feature.

But on a big track, racing left handed for the first time and having to endure a false start, the colt gave some back to his owners and loyal punters tonight, winning the $75,000 NZB Standardbred Harness Million Two Year Old Mobile Trot.

“He was a little bit fizzed up. All I can say is full credit to the team. It’s been a great effort to get him here tonight and to have him do everything right considering the circumstances. He handled himself well, had to do it tough and he just kept rolling. I thought if we got him out and rolling he’d just keep going. To be fair to him he was going just as good at the line as he was at the 800,” driver Zachary Butcher said.

Bred by Yabby Dam Farms and trained by Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan who purchased him at the Sales, Duke Of Bourbon is impeccably bred. His dam Dance Craze won twenty four races including a handful at Group One level and her dam La Coocaracha was a superstar trotting mare.
