Bettor Than Spring rebounds

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Bettor Than Spring (Bettors Delight) rebounded with authority in the featured pace on the Saturday harness racing card at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

In the Preferred 2 Pace in race 11, the Post Time Picks call proved correct as Bettor Than Spring ($2.60) and driver Myles Heffernan Sr., dictated all the terms from post 5 for trainer Trevor Hicken. The veteran Bettors Delight gelding chopped out splits of 27.2, 55.4 and 1:25 before closing in 28.3 to win in 1:53.3 over a game House Edge Hanover (Driven by Ken Murphy) and pocket-sitter Nothing Bugs Me (David Dowling). The victory was another showcase of class for the 10-year-old pacer owned by Quebec’s Perry Burke, who recorded win number 64 of his career after racing last in the Gold Cup and Saucer series.

BETTOR THAN SPRING REPLAY

T H Boomtown ($3.90) stamped his name on the Omer Caissie Memorial in race 6 prevailing by a neck in 1:56.2 for driver Dowling, trainer Ron Matheson and owners Don Ling and Wayne Macdougall. The Captain Crunch four-year-old came first-over and edged past favourite Navalny (Brady Sweet), while Sports Teller (Adam Merner) grabbed third.
