Bettor Beach in decisive Oaks win

By Harnesslink ·

Bettor Beach (Bettors Delight) proved herself to be the best filly currently racing on the Eastern seaboard of Australia with yet another effortless win in the Group 1 $150,000 Prydes Easifeed Victoria Pacers Oaks Final at Melton on Saturday evening.

Starting a prohibitive odds on favourite ahead of her stablemate Willows Girl, Bettor Beach was driven straight for the lead by driver Mark Pitt who was then allowed to dictate his own terms of pace.

Ripples was caught outside the leader early on while Willows Girl settled behind the leader with The Queens Gambit in the one out and one back trail.

BETTOR BEACH 17 OCT REPLAY

Pitt allowed Bettor Beach more rein down the back but she couldn’t quite shake off Willows Girl who was the only danger as they neared the final bend going a third quarter of 26.7 seconds. Bettor Beach maintained the momentum with yet another blistering final quarter of 26.5 seconds as she finished just under six metre ahead of Willows Girl who stuck to her task with Rachel’s Legacy finishing on well for third.

Winning driver Mark Pitt was fulsome in his praise of Bettor Beach.

She’s very special, this one.

She’s sort of great to sit behind her. She gives you a really good feel and just when, when you ask her to go, she’s always there for you.

You always got to have a concern when you got another one of the Emma Stewart trained runners on your back. She’s a very nice mare, Willow’s Girl as well but I just thought we got to the front pretty cheap, and controlled it, and thenwhen I asked her to go, she really went.

She’s probably just a little bit a couple classes above a few of these runners. You can’t take it away from any of the other runners. There’s some nice horses amongst them but this one is  just really special.

It felt like we were going probably going from more so from the top of the straight, it felt like we were really motoring but it did feel pretty strong down the back.

It’s great to be able to come back here. Bruce and Vicki (Edwards) the owners are great supporters of mine, and hopefully that continues but it’s always good to see them with a smile on their face.

Willows Girl lost no friends in her fighting second place while Rachel’s Legacy who came from a fair way back should be ready to pick up a race soon.
