Bets of the week ring around - 11th May 2016
UPDATED 12th May
A nice effort from our tipsters last week with only 2 of the 16 selections missing a top 3 spot, including a quinella at Oamaru that paid $13.50!
Craig Ferguson took top honours with his tip, Havinaravup, saluting the judge playing a handy $6.90 and $2.30.
Others to select winners were, Blair Orange, Mark Jones, Craig Thornley, Gavin Smith and Andrew Fitzgerald.
This week we cover the 5 meetings.
Manawatu – Thursday Night – Follow selections for the second day (Sunday Afternoon) as well
Robbie Close – looking to start this week’s ring around with a bang, Robbie goes with Danke in Race 1.
Jay Abernethy – Makes a return to Manawatu, where the Abernethy brothers are regulars in the birdcage, Jay thought Kirra Kid was his best chance in Race 3.
Peter Scaife – Is looking at lining Vibhuti up on the 2nd day (Sunday), and felt he would be a great each way bet.
Forbury – Friday Night
Nathan Williamson – Goes with Changesaw, a recent addition to the Brent Shirley team, he does look tough to roll in Race 2.
Jonny Cox – Thought Ma Cille has put in some nice efforts lately and is worth a bet in Race 8.
Craig Ferguson – Looking to go back to back Craig goes for Jerry Fitz as his best drive of the week, drawn to trail or sit 3 back, Jerry will have one last shot at them in Race 9.
Shane Walkinshaw – Goes with Geordie Sivad as his best, a handy workout win over Democrat Party makes him a great eahway bet in Race 10.
Auckland – Friday Night
Todd Mitchell – Thought Risk could win from his 20m mark, Race 8.
John Curtin – Reckons Urban Tiger can break through for win number 1, Race 9.
Addington – Saturday Afternoon
Ricky May – Goes with 2yo trotter Enghien, likely to start favourite in the listed Yearling Sales trot final, Race 2.
Matthew Cross – Sticks with handy maiden Handsome Hero break through, Race 4.
Bob Butt – Thought Junior was another close to breaking through, also in Race 4.
Gavin Smith – Plenty of repeat tips coming through, Gav stays with his star trotter Great Things Happen, Race 5.
Andrew Fitzgerald – Stays on board the Ears Burning train, and thought even from the wide draw his class would show. A win would ensure his place in this year’s Harness Jewels, Race 6.
Timaru – Sunday Afternoon
Blair Orange – Thought that from the ace draw, Bettor B Chevron would be hard to beat in Race 2.
Brad Williamson – It took Brad a while to make his decision, he changed his mind a couple of times but finally decided Alderbeck was his best chance, Race 5.
Mark Jones – Back from a small freshen up, Sandoval was Mark’s bet of the week in Race 9.
