Bellacache captures Meadows feature

WASHINGTON, PA, Aug. 30, 2023  — Bellacache (Aracache Hanover-Endora Hanover) waited patiently in the pocket, then brushed by the 1-5 favorite, Wakemeshakeme, in the Lightning Lane to capture Wednesday’s (Aug. 30) harness racing feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $13,500 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace.

Wakemeshakeme enjoyed a 29.3 second-quarter breather, but she was no match late for Aaron Merriman and Bellacache, who downed her by a head in 1:53.3, with Premier Delainey third. Although Wakemeshakeme had to settle for place, the 6-year-old mare vaulted over $200,000 in career earnings.

BELLACACHE REPLAY

Justin Lloyd trains Bellacahe, a 7-year-old who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $124,616, for Jamie Macomber, Martin Buckey and James Stoneciper.

Dave Palone and Merriman each piloted three winners on the 12-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday, first post 12:45 PM.
