Cardigan Dan and Brooklyn Dan will try and showcase their Queensland Derby claims when they warm up in a qualifier, while in the Oaks qualifier, Sparkling Sea and Bettor Beach look the prominent players.

Jilliby Dreamlover, Dash Dosh, I Am Hellbound, Mecarno and Crackerjack will collide in a 3YO & 4YO Trotting Feature.

Albion Park

Race 3

CARDIGAN DAN (1) will be looking for an all-the-way win in the Queensland Derby Qualifier which grants the winner automatic entry into the Derby. He was second in the Nutrien Classic Sales Race Series heat before finishing fourth in the final – both won by Hollywood Strip. He should prove hard to beat here.

BROOKLYN DAN (5) is his stablemate and comes out of the same series, finishing third in the final. He looks the main danger in this race. REWATCH (8) will enjoy the pegs and comes off a third placing in the South East Derby. Has strong each-way prospects. MAJOR BLITZ (2) is the unknown in this company after five-straight victories in easier races. LUVTOBEUPTOME (9) looks next best.

Selections: 1-5-8-9

CARDIGAN DAN (1) to win

Race 4

BETTOR BEACH (9) has won two of her three career starts and looks to have a very sharp sprint on her. When winning both times, she has broken 27 seconds. That could prove the difference here as she tries to reel them in from her back row draw. The future looks bright and she would be a worthy runner in the Queensland Oaks next week.

SPARKLING SEA (5) is the proven filly in the race, winning nine times from 13 starts. She should work forward to find the lead and will give them something to catch. ENOLA (1) and SEASIDE BOULEVARD (8) will both enjoy pegs runs.

Selections: 9-5-1-8

BETTOR BEACH (9) to win

Race 7

DASH DOSH NZ (3) won the New Zealand Trotting Oaks last year. She didn’t have much luck in The Great Square won by Jilliby Dreamlover but still finished in second place. With more luck here in the smaller field, she could prove hard to hold out.

JILLIBY DREAMLOVER (2) won The Great Square last start after taking a sit. It will be interesting to see if Jason Lee decides to hold the lead or try to take a sit again. Either way, she should be fighting out the finish. CRACKERJACK NZ (7) was a cracking run last start and will appreciate having just seven rivals. I AM HELLBOUND (5) may try and attack Jilliby Dreamlover to get the front but will be vulnerable if forced to sit parked. MECARNO (6) can win too, although needs some luck.

Selections: 3-2-7-6

DASH DOSH NZ (3) to win

Race 8

DREAMALITTLEDREAM NZ (8) starts from the inside of the back row behind a roughie which may force Pete McMullen to get off the fence early. She is having her first run in Queensland after previously racing in South Australia. She finished second in a recent trial behind open class mare Eye Keep Smiling, an $868,000 earner. They carved out a 1:52.1 mile rate, sprinting home in 27.7 and 26.1. To finish just 3.4m away was a terrific effort and she should run a huge race here.

SEASIDE GLORY (3) is the main danger after drawing barrier three. She is the highest assessed runner in the field and looks the most likely leader. GOLDEN SHOOZ (7) and BUBBY TO BASE (6) are both good enough to win, it’s just the wider draws that could prove a challenge.

Selections: 8-3-7-6

DREAMALITTLEDREAM NZ (8) to win

Gloucester Park

Race 2

MUNROES MATE NZ (11) raced out of his class last start when showing no gate speed and being double crossed at the start. He finished well enough from three back on the pegs. The key here is following out Up And Alive who is the most likely leader in the race. As long as he doesn’t get shuffled too far back over the sprint distance, he should have something to offer late in the race.

UP AND ALIVE (2) is the most likely leader but there is gate speed drawn outside. She is having a nice preparation and looks to have strong claims. POPPYONTHEBEACH (12) can trail Munroes Mate and she is racing in incredible form right now, either winning or finishing within a head if beaten. FULL SWING DENARIO NZ (3) and LADY CAMEL (1) have the draws to be thereabouts too.

Selections: 11-2-12-3

MUNROES MATE NZ (11) to win

Race 3

BLAZE AWAY (1) has been knocking on the door to win a race and some of his recent placings from poor draws have been good. Emily Suvaljko will be keen to lead and this isn’t a quick front line which should help his cause. The last time he got a chance to lead, he ran fourth in the Christmas Gift which was a stronger race. Expecting him to run a big race.

EASTBRO CHRISSY (5) can be forgiven for one poor run. Her prior form was good and she won’t be punching the breeze in this field. SPITFIRE (10) has a soft draw and can run well. STARLIGHT DREAM (4) consistently runs strong sectionals and could be the blowout chance in this. ELITE FLEET (11) and SOHO MOONRAKER (12) are next best.

Selections: 1-10-5-12

BLAZE AWAY (1) to win

Race 5

BETTORS PRIDE (2) has won his past two races and looks very hard to beat in the Group 3 Winter Cup. He has won two from four over the staying trip and hopefully he can find the front because Spyglass likes to lead when drawing barrier one – although he is better suited over a shorter distance so may opt for some cover. If Bettors Pride can lead, then he should be hard to reel in.

NEVER ENDING (5) returns and the one-time boom pacer will find this much easier than any of his previous races last prep. He may need a run or two to find fitness, so the 2536m could test him first-up. BRICKIES DREAM NZ (11) has each-way prospects in the race; same for SWEET PINS NZ (3), JUSTCALLMEMIKI NZ (4) and YOURE SO FINE NZ (12).

Selections: 2-11-5-12

BETTORS PRIDE (2) to win

Race 8

ADMIRAL DARCY (8) would be really well placed here if it wasn’t for barrier eight. Despite that fact, we are getting a nice price. He was a Narrogin winner four starts ago and then ran well at his next two starts. Last start, the sectional times were completely against him, so the big margin of defeat is understandable. With some luck, he can finish strongly.

MADDY ROCKS (12) has the draw that I wish Admiral Darcy had. She has Gary Hall Jnr driving which gives her strong claims. THE RIGHTEOUS (3) and MYSTA MOON WALKER (6) can certainly win this contest. It is very competitive.

Selections: 8-12-3-6

ADMIRAL DARCY (8) to win
