APG sales graduate annexes WA Oaks

By Harnesslink ·

The Captaintreacherous filly August Moon, who downed a top class harness racing field in the Group 1 $150,000 WA Oaks at Gloucester Park on Friday night (Oct 06), is a product of the Australian Pacing Gold sales.

WA Oaks winning connections

Bred by the late Harry Caparara, the filly was knocked down for $38,000 to clients of Luke Edwards’ stable at the APG Perth sale in 2021.

August Moon has now earned $296,283, the result of 10 wins and five placings from 18 starts. Her 2023 stake tally of $252,660 makes her the richest three-year-old of both sexes and gaits in the country this season.

She has won nine of her 11 outings this year.

Besides the WA Oaks, August Moon has captured the $100,000 Westbred Classic, the $50,000 APG Sales Classic and the $30,000 Dainty’s Daughter Classic.

August Moon is out of the former smart racemare My Samantha Jane NZ 1:57.4 ($166,426) and the first of her produce to race.
