Allstar Seelster upsets in feature

SUMMERSIDE, PE – Allstar Seelster played a game of "catch-me-if-you-can" in the Wednesday night harness racing feature at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway and was successful as he shocked his rivals.

The Ed Harvey trainee was sent to the front by driver Norris Rogers and never looked back in a huge upset in the $2,100 featured event. Allstar Seelster led through fractions of 27.2, 57 and 1:26.1 before closing the mile out in 1:57.2 with Old Buck (Driven by Jason Hughes) finishing second with Machinthesand (Ken Murphy) finishing third. The winning pacer is owned by Harvey of Tyne Valley and paid a whopping $71.70 for a $2 win ticket while the triactor paid out at 4-3-ALL for $121.50. It was the second win of the night for the combination of trainer Harvey and driver Rogers.

The top driver in Island racing only had one win on the Wednesday program but that is all it took to land him a career milestone. Marc Campbell teamed up to win with Rising Fella in 1:59.1 for trainer Jansen Sweet of O'Leary as the Winsloe reinsman scored win number 1,900 of his career.

Hughes had a solid night at the office as he had three winners on the program including the $1,800 back-up pace with a front-end score of 1:58.1 aboard Ultimatelyhandsome. The son of Western Paradise is owned by the Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B., and trained by Sifroi Melanson. Hughes' other winners were Delightful Nights in 2:04.1 for trainer Blaine McKenna of Summerside and Sir Native from his own stable in 2:01.4.

Goliath Reigns had the fastest mile of the night winning the evening finale in 1:56 for driver Dale Spence and trainer Dawn Ellis Abbott of Lower Onslow, N.S.

Ken Murphy had two driving wins on the program.
