Allenby Lodge unveils strong three lot draft for APG Adelaide Sale
Allenby Lodge unveils strong three lot draft for APG Adelaide Sale
Allenby Lodge, now based at Kapunda, boasts a rich history in standardbred breeding dating back to 1952 when it operated from its Days Road property under the guidance of legendary studmaster CH “Bob” Norman. During that era, the farm stood influential stallions including Aachen, a sire who helped shape the breed.
The stud later stood the successful Happy Talk, who produced 184 winners and went on to become a highly sought-after broodmare sire.
Today, Allenby Lodge is managed by third-generation horseman Stephen Norman alongside his wife Teresa, continuing the family tradition. The Normans have long been strong supporters of the South Australian Yearling Sale and will present the progeny of their exciting young stallion, the royally bred Major Secret, at this year’s APG Adelaide Sale.
Allenby Lodge will offer a draft of two fillies and one colt at the sale, to be held at Gawler Harness Racing Club on March 29.

Lot 503 is a filly out of the Elsu mare Kash, who has already produced the talented Star Man, a nine-time winner whose victories include the Silver Salver and the South Australian Sapling Stakes. The filly also boasts a strong New Zealand pedigree featuring performers such as The Black Lord, a 15-time winner including a Listed feature in Western Australia, and the outstanding country cups performer Homebush Lad, a 16-time winner.

Lot 513 is a filly from the Somebeachsomewhere mare Blue Beach Angel, a 12-race winner. This is her third foal, with her first now a three-year-old (named but unraced) and her second currently a two-year-old. Her pedigree is further strengthened by the presence of former top-class mare Blue Sage as the third dam. Blue Sage produced Group 1 winner Marbles, the Vicbred Super Sires champion who also captured the Tasmanian Miracle Mile and placed in the Tasmanian Pacing Championship.

Lot 515 is a colt out of Closure, the dam of Rupert Ross (by Huntsville), a winner of the Kindergarten Stakes and South Australian Sapling Stakes, who has recorded 10 wins to date and continues to perform strongly. Closure is also the granddam of Oaklander, a winner at two last season and a Listed placegetter.
The colt’s second dam, Really Can Scoot, was a high-class juvenile and three-year-old, winning a heat and semi-final of the Vicbred Super Series at two and capturing the Group 1 South Australian Oaks at three. The family also includes outstanding performers such as Main Morris, a 36-race winner with 17 victories in North America, and Party Date, a 25-race winner including the Group 3 Vicbred Ladyship Cup and a Group 1 placegetter in the WA Golden Nugget. Party Date is also the dam of Bettor Party, winner of the Gawler Gold Cup with earnings of $351,417.
All members of the Allenby Lodge draft are eligible for both the Southern Cross and Vicbred schemes.
