All Stars to run trifecta at Ascot Park

The two year old pace for the colts and geldings at the Northern Southland harness racing meeting at Ascot Park on Saturday has only drawn a field of seven but with three runners from the All Stars barn, the result looks pretty clear cut even at this stage.

All three of the All Stars runners have been performing very well at trials and workouts in Canterbury and barring accidents they will run the trifecta on Saturday in the Fight For Glory Pace.

Having watched these three at the trials and workouts over the last few weeks, this is how we see them performing on Saturday.

Mr Kalypso ( Aust) –  2013 2 B c Art Major – Kalypso

A $90,000 purchase at the Sydney leg of last years Australian Pacing Gold Sales Series by Mark Purdon, this half brother to the outstanding Caribbean Blaster 1:52.6 ($1,113,677) looks to have inherited all the family ability.

Has looked very sharp in his trials to date and from his mid row draw, he looks the one to beat in this.

Looks capable of going on to better things later in the season either here or in Australia

Vincent  (Aust)  –  2013 2 B c Art Major – Kept For Pleasure

A $130,000 purchase at the Sydney leg of the Australian Pacing Gold Series by long time All Stars client Jean Feiss, Kept For Pleasure was an outstanding Australian racemare who won 19 from 37 and $542,343 on the track and has already produced the promising MacKenzie who is starting another campaign in race 7 on Saturday at Ascot Park.

Another one who has looked very promising at trials but Mr Kalypso just looks to have a small edge over Vincent in our opinion and with the inside draw that should be enough to see him home here.

Another juvenile who looks to have a big future in front of him.

Ultimate Machete  –  2013 2 B c Bettor's Delight – Reality Check

A $84,000 purchase at the New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale at Christchurch by long time All Stars clients, Phil and Glenys Kennard, Ultimate Machete is a half brother to the high class Perth two and three year old filly Major Reality 1:54.7 ($243,767) who is seven from seven at three this season.

Has trialed up nice behind several of his stablemates but they they just look a touch more forward at this stage.

Has drawn the best of the three All Stars runners but the other two just look to have an edge at this stage

Of the others Kiwi Bloke from the Malcolm Shinn barn has shown plenty of promise at trials and workouts but he doesn't look like he has kicked on lately.

Fourth is probably his lot here.
