Can Lucky Promesses make it nine straight wins

TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec – Since July 4, Lucky Promesses has been perfect for owner, breeder and driver Jerome Lombart and on Tuesday night at the Hippodrome 3R, the four-year-old mare will be going for her ninth straight victory.

The daughter of Lucky Fool from the Mr Lavec mare, Promising Lavec, Lucky Promesses starts from post three in the fifth race feature Tuesday for trainer Andreane Lapierre.

Lucky Promesses is the winningest horse at H3R this season with six of her wins during her impressive winning streak coming at her home track. Lombart has also taken his mare to Rideau Carlton during her streak and there she took her lifetime mark with a 1:58.2 victory. She also won at Bedford on the Quebec Regional Fair Circuit.

Not showing much promise at age 2 and just one win at age 3, it was not until this season that Lucky Promesses has come into her own. She missed the Quebec-Bred Series, but had now made up for it all with her eight-race winning streak.

Over her past two starts, both at H3R, Lucky Promesses has begun to crush her opponents, winning both fast and sloppy tracks by a combined total of 12 and one-half lengths. She also shows that she can leave out of the gate and wire the field or sit and wait and strike at will.

Lucky Promesses is the 5/2 morning line favorite and will more than likely go off at much lower odds as her competition in the fifth race, all five rivals, have all watched her from behind in previous starts. Holiday Gift (post two) and SOS Christina (post one) were second and third respectively to Lucky Promesse last week at H3R.

Track Notes: This is the last Tuesday night card of the season at H3R. First race post time is 7:00 pm. Coming up this Sunday is the C$480,000 finals of the Breeders Cup and Future Stars Series for two and three-year-old trotters and pacers. For more information, visit www.quebecjockeyclub.com.
