Lexington, KY – A track record double-carryover of better than $16,000 fueled the largest single night Pick 4 pool in harness racing track history of over $55,000 last Saturday (Aug 26) at The Red Mile, with a combination of 8-1, 6-1, 3-5, and 3-2 winners producing a healthy one-dollar return of $1,081.70.
It took exactly one night for the wager to elude patrons once again.
In what could have been an omen of things to come, Gone Again (Tyler Smith) jump started the Pick 4 sequence on Sunday (Aug 27) at odds of 23-1. By the end of the sequence there were no winning tickets, leaving a $4,055 carryover into Thursday (Aug 31) night. Track officials, in conjunction with the USTA's Strategic Wagering Program, have added an 'instant guarantee' of $15,000 to Thursday night's total pool.
The Pick 4 is a nightly wager offering one a one-dollar minimum, covering races 7 – 10. Thursday night's sequence features four full fields of overnight pacers, with three-year old KYSS pacers and trotters highlighted earlier on the card in their final appearance before the $175,000 finals to be held on September 17th. First post is 7 p.m.
