DOVER, Del.— Mel Mara won the $30,000 Preferred in 1:49.4 to give Corey Callahan his 5,000th career victory in the $30,000 Preferred handicap, Little Ben scored a 1:50 triumph in the $27,500 Delaware Special while Wakiashi Hanover paced a 1:49.2 win in a $18,500 Open for young horses to highlight a big Monday, Nov. 14th harness racing program at Dover Downs. Corey Callahan notched a milestone victory number 5,000 driving Mel Mara to an impressive 1:49.4 triumph in the $30,000 feature. Leaving from outside post 8, the seven-year-old son of Lis Mara-ML Revrac gpt the lead ear;y and was never headed winning for the eighth time this season advancing his bankroll to the tune of $248,540 this year and $706,464 lifetime. Robert Cooper and K&T stables own the Dylan Davis trainee. Veteran Dancin Yankee and Tim Tetrick were runners-up with the Pat Berry-driven Te Kawau N third. Just A Jolt was an early scratch.
Little Ben and Vic Kirby made it two in a row using a front-pacing stragedy to score a 1:50 conquest in the secondary-feature $27,500 Delaware Special. Jane Hudson and JoAnn Loone-King own the Jereme's Jet-Honey Bud Life five year-old gelding trained by current meet leader Jim King. Remember Me VK (Montrell Teague) finished second with Mustang Art (Sean Bier) coming on for third.
The fastest clocking on the card came when $1.1-million winning Wakizashi Hanover stormed down the stretch in a :27.2 panel to score his first win of 2016 in seven starts 1:49.2 with Tim Tetrick at the controls in an $18,000 Open Handicap for 4&5-Year-Old pacers. Arque Hanover (Corey Callahan) and ogjt Beach (Montrell Teague) were second and third respectively. Wakizashi Hanover, an altered son of Dragon Again -Wester Gesture, owned by Nova Scotians, Bruce Kennedy and Tri Country, has now won $1,284,309 in hid 14 lifetime races.

Then win was the second in his last three starts for the Mach Three-Swap Blue Chip four-year-old ge;ding. Jet Airway (Callahan) was next in front of Lew's Maverick (Kevin Switzer Jr.).
In the other $15,500 division, the photo-finish camera could not separate Pam Plante's Rock N Roll Heaven -Return To Me gelding Suchasenseofhumor (Ross Wolfenden, one of two training wins for Wayne King, and Casey At Bat (Allan Davis)in 1:52.1. The win was the second of three for the driver and trainer Wayne Givens and Legacy Racing, who shares ownership in the Sportscaster-Odds On Casey gelding with Sharon White and Denise Davis.
In early non-wagering Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund $20,000 two-year-old colt trots-2nd leg events, Jiggs (Vic Kirby) raced side-by-side witrh Master Clave (Ross Wolfenden) down the lane before pulling off for a 2:01 score. Leigh Raymer trains the Giant Hit-Mystic Hill gelding for owner Rodney Mitchell.
Sea n Bier guided Mooshine Lavev to his second straight $20,000 DSBF win in the other division for trainr and co-owner Erika Paradee and partners Francisca Munoz and Chrissy Crissman Bier. Crosby (George Dennis) and Command The Fire (Corey Callahan) were second and third respectively.
The top female pacers meet in the Tuesday feature Filly and Mare pace.
DOVER, Del. — Nike Franco N, a winner of her first two U.S. starts since arriving from New Zealand, starts from post 8 in the the $20,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap pace on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Dover Downs.
Acquired by Richard Polluci, the six-year-old American-sired mare is trained by Jim King and will be driven by Tim Tetrick. She has scored impressive victories at Harrington and a Dover Downs in her last start early this month. Among her challengers is the sharp filly Sayulita, fresh from consecutive victories for driver Tony Morgan and owners David Banks and Layfield Horses. Empress Deo and Allan Davis show strong second-place finishes in their last two outings.
Corey Callahan drives Howard Taylor's Shine N Shimmer, a seven-time winner this year, who has already won Harrington and Dover top female paces. Another contender is JFE Enerprise's Scandalicious and Vic Kirby, also no stranger to the Dover winners circle. Jim Morand sits behind owner-trainer Gary Ewing's Sweet Bobbie. Owner-trainer Jeff Clark's fast finishing Springforth and George Dennis has the rail Fashion Showdown, after two easy qualifying wins completes the field.
Owner-driver Tim Tetrick's Arts Jem and Bay Pond Stable's Real Drama (Kirby), both winners last time out, head the $15,500 3&4-Year-Old Filly and Mare Winners-Over pace.
A pair of $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund 2nd leg prelims are also on the card. Magicinthemoonlight (Yannick Gingras) has post 1 with She's No Spinster (Allan Davis) in a field of seven in the 1st race. A non-wagering freshmen filly pace is led by JoAnn Looney-King's Spanish Dream (Kirby) and Green Valley Training's A Lady Sizzling (Morgan).
