Moa cracks one

The consistent Crackamoa finally got a winner's cheque at the Young Quinn Raceway at Wyndham today.

The Real Desire gelding had run a number of good races in his twelve start two season career and driven by trainer Brad Morris he made it win number one in the MLT/Pioneer Tavern Mobile Pace.

The four year old didn't get the ideal run, being left in the parked position for all of the trip. At the top of the straight Crackamoa had hit the lead and held off an inside run from Thunda Down Unda by a neck with another neck away to favourite Don Sebastian in third.

"He's taken a wee bit of working out. He's always had the ability but he's also been a bit of a funny bugger. He's best saved for one run but is starting to learn what the racing game's all about," said Morris who works at Invercargill Airport and trains a small team out of Doug McLachlan's stable at Myross Bush.

Crackamoa was bought at the 2014 PGG Wrightson Sale of the Stars for $23,500 by Morris's father-in-law Charlie Templeton. The gelding is owned by the Templeton Family Trust and Morris.

He's out of the qualified Christian Cullen mare All Time Glory. Her dam Quest For Glory left talented New Age Man (12 wins) and Averil's Atom the dam of Averil's Quest (9 wins) and Shezaball (8 wins). Southland breeders Mark and Pauline O'Connor are still breeding from Averil's Quest. She has a yearling Somebeachsomewhere filly and Rocknroll Hanover two year old
