Terracotta disqualified after sample irregularity

Harness racing filly Terracotta trained by Ken and Tony Barron has been disqualified from a race win at Rangiora on 25th September 2016 after a urine swab tested positive to the anaesthetic Ketamine.

After an RIU investigation it was accepted by the RIU that Terracotta had been in a paddock containing Ketamine contaminated grass after a colt was castrated in it 10 days earlier.

Ken and Tony Barron have not been charged over this matter infuriating some trainers who have been charged with similar offences.

Craig Edmonds and daughter Aimee were fined $9000 in April after being charged with presenting Harriet Of Mot to race not free of a prohibited substance and John Howe was fined $5000 in November last year after a horse he trained, Jackalack Sue, returned a positive swab to Dextrorphan, commonly found in cough medicines and cough suppressants.
