Don Randall to be honoured with race

Former federal member for Canning Don Randall will be remembered when the Pinjarra Harness Racing Club host the Don Randall Memorial Cup on Monday, November 7.

The annual $30,000 will honour the MP who gave an outstanding contribution to the club and West Australian harness racing.

Mr Randall sponsored a number of meetings and races at the Pinjarra Paceway.

The race card will be filled with WA’s best country harness racing horses.

The cup itself is a feature event on the Pinjarra Paceway’s calendar with the club hoping to attract horses that have been nominated for the 2016 TABtouch Inter Dominion.

Racing and Wagering WA have donated a trophy for the event.

The day will also feature the $25,000 four-year-old classic, which is a lead up race to the major WA four-year-old classics.

The winner of this race will be exempt from ballot for the four-year-old Golden Nugget Championship run at Gloucester Park.

The $7,000 Red Samurai Trotters Cup will also be run, showcasing some of the state’s best trotters.

The first race on the card kicks off at 12.40pm with the final race to be held at 4.10pm.

To reserve a table in the Paceway Pavilion restaurant for the day, or for more information about the memorial cup, contact the Pinjarra Harness Racing Club on 9531 1941.

Admission to the Pinjarr Paceway is free of charge.
