Stephane Gendron tops with three winners at 3R

TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec, October 16, 2016 – While leading driver Louis-Philippe Roy is away, Stephane Gendron will play, or in this case at the Hippodrome 3R, win the majority of the races. On Sunday Gendron scored three times on the race program.

Since Roy, 3R's leading driver with 56 wins this season, has elected to drive only at Rideau Carlton, where he is also the leading driver with 109 wins, Stephane Gendron has been more than happy to fill the gap, averaging three to four wins at 3R every Sunday.

This Sunday Gendron started off right in the first race pace, winning with Strokin ($3.10) in 1:58, then the fifth race pace aboard Whitemountain Nemo ($2.50) in 1:57.3, which was the fastest mile on the afternoon program and then sixth race trot in the rain with Mentzer Hanover ($2.90) in 2:04.3.

Gendron is currently in third place in the 3R driving standings at 32 wins, just two behind second place Pascal Berube (34), who did not win on Sunday.

Beach Runner A M became the winningest horse at the Hippodrome 3R this season, leading from start to finish for driver Mario Charron in the 10th race feature over a sloppy, rain-soaked track in 2:00.

It was the seventh win this season at 3R for the nine-year-old gelding by Beach Of Faith and his eighth win on the year. He is trained, owned and was bred Alain Martin of Gatineau, QC, paying $4.80 to win.

The seventh victory at 3R this year by Beach Runner A M broke a tie with St Kitts and Holiday Party as the winningest horse this meet.

Live racing resumes at the Hippodrome 3R next Sunday, first race post time at 1:30 pm. For more information, visit www.quebecjockeyclub.com.
