Post time for the 15-race harness racing program at Dover Downs is 4:30 p.m. In addition, two $20,000 DSBF 2nd leg prelims are on the pre-race non wagering card.
Moonshine Lavec and Master Clave, after impressive wins last week, lead separate $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund divisions in the final preliminary for two-year-old trots .
A five-time winner this season, Weaver Bruscemi, JJK and Burke Racing stable's Foiled Again, a winner of nearly $7.5-million in purses including a pair of wins in the Bobby Quillen at Harrington Raceway, takes on the fast Mel Mara, winner of of the season opening day feature in 1:49.1 beating$1.5-million winning Dancing Yankee, second. Corey Callahan drives Mel Mara for owners Richard Lombardo and L&J Racing. Tim Tetrick will be in the bike for trainer Josh Green. Local favorite Just A Jolt, racing for Janet Hudson and JoAnn Looney King is teamed with driver Vic Kirby.
Cajon Lightning, an opening day 1:51 winner with Art Stafford Jr. drew the rail for trainer Eric Ell and owners Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar, Steve Iaquinta and Minisink Farms with newcomer American Rage owned by Mildred Ventriglio, winner of more than a quarter-million dollars, is alongside. Howard Taylor's hard-hitting Handsome Henry K with Andrew McCarthy, has raced well at Dover in the past. J.L. Sadowsky's Te Kawau N, a recent New Zealand import, with Tony Morgan completes the strong field.
The first $27,500 Delaware Special of the meet is led by Janet Hudson and JoAnn Looney-King's longshot winner last week, Little Ben (Vic Kirby), The Wiz Kids Stable's Golden Gun (Pat Berry) was an impressive 1:51.4 winner last time. Max Walton and Greg Papaleo's Mustang Art (Sean Bier) fits this class well.
Al Carter and trainer Doug Lewis' Captive Audience (McCarthy), Bob Stevenson's Singing Saint (Morgan) and the fast Remember Me VK (Montrell Teague) from the rail owned by Sharon Wyatt, Robin West and Ron Benton, is in peak form. The other starters, Art Stafford and driver-trainer Art Stafford Jr. and David Banks and Layfield Horses' Getitoffyourchest (Ross Wolfenden) are both fresh off qualifying wins.
