Record setting Atlantic Sale

The 2016 edition of the Atlantic Classic was held Friday at the Crapaud Exhibition Grounds and the harness racing yearling sale was a record setting day, smashing all previous records.
The annual standardbred sale grossed almost $800,000, over $100,000 above previous highs, with a Maritime record average price of $8,396. The top five selling trotters in regional history went through the ring at Crapaud, leading to a trot average price of nearly $9,000.
"The trot prices reflected the tremendous support of the regional trot stakes program by Meridian Farms," stated Sale Manager Wayne Pike. The top selling Trotter was Windemeredontuworry, purchased by Terry Gallant for $12,650. ‎
Meridian also generously donated 100% of the sale proceeds of their Armbro Barrister son  A Pure Heart to the Crapaud Fire Department, which was purchased by Boyd MacDonald and Danny Ross for $10,350. The overall sale topper was a sharp looking Articulator filly  Woodmere Saphire, a full sister to  multiple stakes winner Woodmere Soul, who was purchased by Tom McGuffog of Fredericton, NB for $25,000.
