DOVER, Del. – The first $20,000 Open/Handicap trot of the Dover Downs harness racing meet is a good one on a trot-filled Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Heading the highly competitive seven horse field is stakes seasoned Maestro Blue Chip driven for trainer Jim King and owner Rich Pollucci, a 12-time winner already this year. After an overland victory last time out Jonathan Roberts will be behind the sharp Dylan Davis conditioned Theresademoninme, co-owned by Davis and Mike Cassilno. In from Yonkers is hard-hitting Somebody AS trained by Anette Lorentzon for ACI Stuten AB and Kjell Johnnson. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
Maestro Blue Chip, with Tim Tetrick, has been sharp most of the season winning $228,000 while Theresademoninme has eight wins while earning $102,861 this campaign. Somebody AS has been right there in Yonker features.
The rest of the potent field includes CC Racing's Il Mago, who has been racing well in the Midwest. Callan Racing's Spunky Jack and Roger Plante will have a good spot starting from the rail with Celebrity Pegusus, owned by Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar, Steve Iaquita and Minisink Farms, starts alongside with Yannick Gingras in the bike. The only mare in the field is Bill Cantrell's consistent Classic Belisima handled by Corey Callahan for trainer John Cabot.
Also on the trot-heavy card are a $15,000, $12,000 and an $11,000 trot.
Weekday post time for Monday through Thursday racing is 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday are dark days. Sundays in November, racing begins a 5:30 p.m. Parking and admission are free.
