Bets of the week ringaround – January 14th 2016

The great run had to come to an end at some point but we here at Harnesslink put it down to the track conditions at Cambridge as much as anything else last week.

At Nelson in the dry conditions, the selectors picked five winners and a second from their eight selections but as soon as the action moved to Cambridge on Friday night and the slushy conditions underfoot, the results went out the window.

We only managed two winners and a placing from nine selections at Cambridge which is our worst result for ages.

The Nelson winners were headed by John Dunn and he was joined in the winners circle by Blair Orange, Gavin Smith, Ricky May, Mark Jones, Tony Herlihy and John Curtin while we chalked up another five placings as well.

There are four meetings this week but that doesn't include the second day at Kapiti Coast.

It pays to follow the selections from the first day in such circumstances.
