HRNSW strategic plan released

Following a lengthy consultation process Harness Racing New South Wales has released its Strategic Plan for 2015-2017: ‘A Pathway for the Future through the Unification of Strengths.’

Chief Executive Officer John Dumesny said the plan provides the industry with a blueprint to build and unite to ensure its future.

“This Strategic Plan addresses a pathway for the future years of harness racing within New South Wales with goals that will only be achieved through the diligent and valuable contributions of all stakeholders as both individuals and groups as well as the industry leaders,” Mr Dumesny said.

“A cohesive engagement by the industry stakeholders who have the passion for maintaining the traditions of harness racing is a prerequisite for the growth of this great sport,” Mr Dumesny added.

The Strategic Plan’s Primary Goals include:

·         To ensure relevance, viability and sustainability as a major player in the entertainment industry as a sporting attraction

·         To achieve an increase in our recognition across the community and participation of Owners, Licencees, On-course attendances and visitors

·         To ensure compliance with all regulatory, statutory and industry requirements

·         To achieve increases in service ratings

·         To achieve increased average field sizes which will convert into increased wagering leading to increases in revenue return

Mr Dumesny said the industry’s future could also be strengthened through the infusion of significant additional funding.

“Initiatives are being undertaken by HRNSW seeking wagering taxation parity as compared to other States from the NSW Government.

“If this is achieved HRNSW will be in a position to commence the required enhancement of the NSW Harness Racing Industry.”
