Turnbull chasing Cowra success

It seems like yesterday Jason Turnbull won the 2000 Cowra Cup driving Gallymont Lucius to a harness racing victory. Turnbull has fond memories of the Cowra track and is looking forward to competing at the Carnival Of Cups meeting this Sunday afternoon. While Turnbull acknowledges bigger tracks are the way of the future, he still enjoys racing on the smaller circuits.

"I really enjoy getting into the country and competing at tracks like Cowra, I understanding why the industry is moving towards bigger tracks but I still think the small tracks have a vital role to play as well," Turnbull said.

"At these country tracks the entire town tends to get behind the meetings which means a good healthy crowd and a great atmosphere."

The Turnbull stable will have three runners at Cowra this Sunday, Jason will drive the first with his sister Emma taking the reins for the other two.

"I'm driving Glee Bromac (Art Major) in the fifth race, she is having trouble drawing a gate but I thought Sunday's race looked a little bit more suitable than her last start where she competed in a heat of the Menangle Country Series.

"She is racing well and has worked well so with a bit of luck I think she can be right in the finish."

Raging Rhuben (Bettor's Delight) will have his first run since January 28 and Turnbull suggested he will benefit from the hit-out in race six.

"He had an issue which he is now over but he is that little bit older and that normally means they take one or two runs before they find their top form.

"Raging Rhuben has drawn wide too so that will make his job harder but he has been doing everything right at home in the lead up to his first run back."

Turnbull believes the stable's best chance of the day is Likeallofus and he will compete in the feature event, the $13,260 Tritech Cup.

"Likeallofus (Famous Forever) is a nice horse, he has been racing well but the key with him is how he feels on the day because he can be hot and cold.

"If Likeallofus turns up and performs at his best I think he will be right in the finish, he has got the good draw and I would think he would settle close to the speed."

The Cowra club will run nine races this Sunday with the first event timed to begin at 11:50am.
