Outstanding four year old Miki To Success (Always B Miki) laid claim to a Eureka spot when he scored a comprehensive harness racing win in the Racenet Discovery Stakes at Menangle on Saturday evening. The race was programmed for last chance Eureka contenders and put together an even field.

Miki To Success had only raced once before at Menangle when eighth in the Chariots Of Fire earlier in the year but obviously his trainer Emma Stewart must have considered him to be a serious prospect to send him to Sydney for a preparatory race.
This time he was driven by Cameron Hart who didn’t rush the gelding out early. Royal Cruiser whose connections were confident of obtaining a Eureka spot showed early speed to take up the running. Miki To Success gradually moved up to race alongside the leader with a lap left to travel and Ravishing Sloy took the one out and one back trail.
Hart applied some pressure to Royal Cruiser in the back straight and in a flash Miki To Success moved clear and despite having had the harder run he sprinted away. And the gap became bigger down the home straight and he toyed with his rivals to defeat Ravishing Sloy by over 15 metres with Glitter And Gold battling on for third.
MIKI TO SUCCESS AUG 23 REPLAY
Miki To Success ran the 2300 metres in 1.52.5 and in doing so puts himself in serious contention for the Eureka. Trainer Emma Stewart could have up to four runners in the event with Bay of Biscay already confirmed.

Driver Cameron Hart was full of praise for Miki to Success.
“He went unbelievable. I just felt really confident the whole way really. He just travelled beautiful”.
“He just got over the ground and jogged it really. A pretty amazing performance from him”.
“Coming out of the gate I didn’t want to push him too much. He can be a little quirky obviously first time behind him I was confident he could do that work and win”.
“So I took no risk early and was able to poke up. I felt like the front part of the race was pretty controlled and with Brad (on Royal Cruiser) the main danger inside us I thought I’d put a bit of pressure on him down the back”.
“Once I got head to head with him he just wanted to race him and he felt amazing”.
“He’s a very impressive horse and I’m sure he’d scare a few of the runners”.
That seems a fairly ominous statement that may get some of the slot holders interested.
Royal Cruiser knocked up to finish last but fortunately there was no abnormalities reported in the vet’s examination.
