Owners pay $40,000 supplement fee to enter Canadian Derby

MILTON, August 18, 2025 – Woodbine Mohawk Park’s Race Office received the supplemental entry of Sabonis (Tellitlikeitis) to this year’s Canadian Pacing Derby (G1) ahead of Monday’s noon deadline.

Sabonis is trained by Brett Pelling and owned by Diamond Creek Racing and Pelling Racing LLC. The four-year-old son of Tellitlikeitis most recently won the Grade 2 Dan Patch Invitational at Hoosier Park on August 8.

An Indiana sired star, Sabonis has won 19 of 28 races, including the Milstein Memorial at age three and the Graduate Series Final this season, and has earned over $800,000 (USD). He also sports a career mark of 1:47.3.

The fee to supplement was $40,000 (CAD).

The entry box for the Canadian Pacing Derby closes tomorrow morning (August 19) at 10:30 a.m. Eliminations (if necessary) will take place this Saturday (August 20).
