Stonewall closes in on milestones

Home / New Zealand / Stonewall closes in on milestones

With eighteen runners spread across three venues, Steve and Amanda Telfer look very likely to reach 100 winners in the next three days.

The bulk of the Stonewall runners are at Auckland on Friday night with nine, while the brother and sister training partnership have five at Addington and four at Cambridge.

Stonewall principal Steve Stockman is closing in on his own milestone, as an owner.

He currently sits on 798.

Stockman’s first winner was Potkova (Redmond Lane) at Alexandra Park in June 1984. He was trained by John Langdon and driven by junior driver Rodney Frampton.

558 of those winners have been trained by Steve Telfer either in his own right or in partnership.

Tim Williams has driven 160 winners for Stockman. The first was Fernleigh Cash at Alexandra Park in September 2021.

Other drivers to win races for him are Benjamin Butcher 107, Scott Phelan 103, Josh Dickie 66 and David Butcher 55.

Stockman’s biggest winners by wins have been Better B Amazed with 18, No Doctor Needed, Dance Time, Allamericanlover and BD Joe all at 13, Triple Eight and Mach Banner at 12 and Check In, Ohoka Connor, Mimi E Coco, Ivana Flybye and Alta Wiseguy at 10.
