Three year olds were on stage today at Paris-Vincennes starting with the Prix Caronis (purse 62,000€, 2700 meters, 14 European three year old  males) where the 8/10 odds harness racing favorite Magic Man (3m  Prodigious-Garden Party) scored handily timed in 1.13.5kr.

Matthieu  Abrivard teamed the Etienne Dubois owned and trained colt that won his third in five starts  for 65,230€. The 6.2/1 Mercator (3m Royal Dream-Erika Dream) was second for trainer/driver  Mathieu Mottier and owner Karin Walter-Mommert. Marzipan (3m Bird Parker-Prune Rouge) took third at 15/1 odds for Gabriele Gelormini driving the Louis Baudron trainee.

The monte pros then  contested the Prix Louis Sauve (monte Gr. III International, purse 90,000€, 2700 meters, nine starters ages 5-11) with 5/10 odds favorite Impala de Val (7g Viking de Val-Axelle  du Noyer) an easy winner timed in 1.11.7kr with Benjamin Rochard the winning jockey. P.E. Mary trains this 19  time winner in 45 starts for Ecurie JP & Company.

He has now earned 471,540€.

Extreme  Desbois (11g  Tornado Bello-Ivaniez) was a distant second at 7.2/1 odds with Clement Frecelle aboard for trainer/owner Benjamin Goetz followed by 8.2/1 Kalif Landia (5m Un Charme Fou-Tina Landia) handled  by Mathieu Mottier for A.P. Grimault the owner and trainer. Jezabelle Bie at 20/1 finished fourth then 37/1 Grindelwald was fifth.

Three year old fillies were then seen contesting the Prix  Marcel  Perlbarg (purse 62,000€, 2700 meters, 14 starters three year old females) with 10/1 odds Mosaic Life (3f  Hohneck-Saga de Bolero) scoring timed in 1.15.0kr.

Yoann Lebourgeois  handled the Philippe Allaire owned and  trainer filly that won for the first time and has earned 71,080€. The 2.5/1 odds Mirisc de Guez (3f Uzo Josselyn-Quazirette de  Guez)  was second with Jean Michel Bazire driving the Nicolas Bazire trained and Ecurie Vautors bred and owned filly. Morning News  (3f  Love You-Torreviera) was third at 6.9/1 odds for driver Alexandre Abrivard and owner/trainer Etienne Dubois.

Yesterday in Italy the venerable Varenne (30m Waikiki Beach-Ialmaz-Zebu)  reached his 30th birthday (foaled  May 19, 1995) and he still strong as evidenced by a recent appearance at the Lotteria.  This champion won 41 times for 6,038,411€ taking a speed record of 1.09.1kr.

His record as a stallion is equally impressive.
