Diamond Head digs in to win

Diamond Head (Somebeachsomewhere) captures the $7,500 harness racing featured pace at Vernon Downs on Friday (May 16).

Diamond Head ($3.70) went straight to the front and led to the first quarter in :26.4.  He used a :29.0 second quarter breather to be first to the half in :55.4.  He cruised to three-quarters in 1:23.4.

As they entered the stretch the battle was on as Southwind Sandor (Jeff Gregory) came first-up and challenged for the lead.  Diamond Head dug in as second place finisher Southwind Sandor kept coming.  Diamond Head (Justin Huckabone) secured the win in 1:51.3.  Go With The Flow (Frank Affrunti) finished third.

Diamond Head is an 8-year-old horse by Somebeachsomewhere.  He is owned by Matthew Dugan and trained by Brielle Roman.  It was his fourth straight win this season.  He now has 21 career victories.

DIAMOND HEAD REPLAY

Leon Bailey drove three winners on the card.  Chris Long had a driving double.  Dave Dewhirst had a training double.

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (May 117) with a post time of 5:05 p.m.
