Trainer sentenced for indecently assaulting a younger stable hand

As reported by Phoebe Utteridge for Stuff, a young woman who was living out her dream of working with horses as a stable hand left the harness racing industry entirely after she was indecently assaulted by a trainer.

The man, who has interim name suppression, was 25 years old at the time of the offending.

He was sentenced in the Christchurch District Court on Friday after a jury found him guilty on three charges of indecent assault and one charge of unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle at trial in December 2024.
